We have two exciting job openings to work with Open Targets and our collaborators at the EMBL-EBI.

A) As a software engineer in the Open Targets Core team, you will be involved in analysing and integrating large-scale biological data, and contributing to the development of the Open Targets Platform REST-API. You will also help us develop new resources such as the Genetics Portal, to be launched at ASHG this October. These are some of the environments you will be working on:

  • Python or Scala on Unix-based systems
  • cloud environment (Google Cloud or AWS)
  • Flask and Play 2

B) As a senior scientific programmer/bioinformatician, you will be working with our colleagues in the Samples, Phenotypes and Ontologies Team to deliver new semantic components for the ontology that the Open Targets Platform relies on. These are some of the skills the job requires:

  • Programming in Java, Python, JavaScript and other languages
  • Working in a UNIX based environment
  • Knowledge of Java frameworks (e.g. Spring)
  • Experience of operations e.g. web servers deployment and Docker containers
