Dear All Hope you all are fine and good. I am new to the computational world but I have to use this till completion of my Ph.D. project. I have to work on the structural and functional genomics of prokaryotes. I have a specified budget to purchase the software. Now its the beginning and I am unfamiliar with these tools. Please tell me any tool which is user-friendly, simple and can do this for me. No matter if the tool is limited to a few aspects of the said project. Sorry if my post is irrelevant. You people can send me the private message as well. Thanks in advance
Can you tell what exactly you want/need to do? It's hard to recommend software without knowing the ultimate goal ....
But in general there will likely be an open source solution, so perhaps there is no need to spend money on this?
Thank you dear karthic, yes you are right mostly there is a solution to the issues. I am doing a project "Pan-genome analysis of lactic acid bacteria". The Higher Education Commision of my country is paying for the said project and they have given me 162 USD for software purchasing for the current month. They will give me more in the next couples of months. So, for this project, I am asking for softwares.
if you have to make a choice between clc workbench and blast2go, go for blast2go, it will be more useful.
Like as everyone said, if you are going to do bioinformatics for the rest of your life, look for open source (they are plenty and best) and start learning how to use them. But if you are going to do for a short period as a support for wet lab experiments, go for paid software and finish the job.
You want get very far with 162 USD ... better start looking for open source (==free) software I'm afraid
Please select a more descriptive title for your thread. The current one is meaningless and doesn't say what this thread is about.
That's to vague, you'll have to tell us more precisely what you need to do.
Not a single tool will have a big shiny button "analyse" which will immediately give you the output you are looking for.
It is probably relevant, but very unclear what you are looking for.
