Dears,
I have an mRNA sequence stored as a local file. I retrieved it from GenBank in late 2016 (ID: XM_014915109.1). I just found out that the sequence now appears to be different, but apparently nothing in its GenBank page notifies there were changes after 2016. While it is of course possible that for some kind of copy-paste error I ended up putting the wrong sequence in my local file, I find it strange that the old sequence looks like a deprecated (possibly, poorly assembled) mRNA variant that does not appear anymore in GenBank.
Searching for similar cases online, I stumbled upon this question. If you look at this post from Pierre Lindenbaum:
EDIT2:
The following sequence ("gene 7 {3' end, 5' end, segment 7} [human rotavirus, strain Wa, Genomic RNA, 425 nt 2 segments]") only contains some 'N':
You will see that indeed the link points to a sequence containing only (compacted) Ns. But if you try to access the entry directly (ID: 109917) you get a full sequence, with apparently no reference to the previous "N-only" state.
Am I missing something trivial? Could XM_014915109.1 have been updated after 2016 without changes being tracked?
