I'm PhD student in the field of Computational Biology with a MRes in the same field. If I was to apply for a job in the computer science sector would I be at a disadvantage against other applicants who have a PhD and/or masters in computer science?

I see (and ignore) questions like this all the time on Reddit bioinformatics.

My dad contracts PhDs for industry / consulting gigs. He tell me over and over: it isn't your degree that matters, it is what you have done. If you can show them you can do the required analyses / code project - in the form of papers / tools ect.. - you will get the job. Publish well and take on a variety of projects.

Is there anywhere more convenient I can post my question?

As Zev.Kronenberg puts it the experience and skill set matters and not the degree.

Show up early and volunteer for the the hard projects - you will see how that opens opportunities in your career.
