I am using entrez to fetch the sequence of the protein. This will thive me the fasta sequence. https://eutils.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/eutils/efetch.fcgi?db=protein&id=16128551&rettype=fasta&retmode=text

But I want to have the GI number on the comment line along with the sequence. What modification should I so to get that if it is possible?

Why are the GI numbers required? Is it not possible to use accession numbers instead? Please note that GI numbers are phased out by NCBI.

You sure about this? You should not use GI numbers anymore https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK431010/#news_03-02-2016-phase-out-of-GI-numbers
