Why are the majority of taxon IDs for yeast in the NCBI GENE_INFO (ftp://ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/DATA/GENE_INFO/Fungi/Saccharomyces_cerevisiae.gene_info.gz) listed as 559292 (Saccharomyces cerevisiae S288C) instead of 4932 (Saccharomyces cerevisiae)?
It appears like about 30 rows have the "correct" parent yeast taxon ID, but the overwhelming majority has the specific one.
Looks like everything with an SGD gene identifier has the more specific taxid. Perhaps that's because SGD data is specific to S288C strain?
