I am wondering if there is any good way to predict the function of a gene given the fact that hardly any literature exists on it.

Have you tried standard annotation tools to see if they give you a clue of what the gene may be? Or are you drawing a blank from that type of analysis?

Nothing came out from uniprot go annotation.

If you have the mRNA sequence of the gene, then use blastx to see to which other proteins in other species it aligns. If you get a 100% homology hit, for example, then you could easily infer function.
