As part of my work I will be mainly working on metabolomics and integrating the data with metagenomics and meta transcriptomics data. What would be the best laptop to invest on? (Price max 1000 Euro). What specs do I need to take into account. I do not require a mac but rather looking for a windows laptop.
First things first: forget about windows if you wanna work in bioinformatics or at least you will need a dual booting system. (you can use Windows for accessing server and work on it, but from the question, I understand that you will do your calculation on it)
This is a little bit old: Help a graduate student going into Bioinformatics looking for a new personal laptop. Should I get a Mac or a PC?
Will the data you get already be processed or will you get raw sequencing data. If the latter, what will be the order of magnitude in terms of number of reads and number of samples during that project. That will decide if a laptop (I doubt it) can handle the workload.
