Some good references for comparisons between the human assemblies annotations?

Hi guys I am interested in some references that describe the gene annotations and give some basic stats and comparisons between the human assemblies 37 and 38. If possible about gff annotations. Thank you all for your time. Paulo

The main (and stable) difference between the assemblies are the sequences. The annotations are more dynamic, being constantly updated. Both Ensembl and NCBI - each has its own annotation pipeline - update the genome annotations regularly. With this is mind, probably a good - but outdated - source for the comparison of the assemblies annotations is the initial hg38 release paper.

Statistics for GENCODE GRCh38 is on this page.
You can read the methodology of how those were calculated here and then use the GRCh37/hg19 GTF file to calculate those.
