Hi,

I am having issues running blast from command line, accessing remote databases.

This is what i am running: blastn -db nt -query {input} -out {output} -evalue 0.001 -max_target_seqs 100 -remote

Which returns this: Error: NCBI C++ Exception:
T0 "/opt/conda/conda-bld/blast_1559335677723/work/c++/src/objects/seq/../seqalign/Score_.cpp", line 90: Error: CScore::C_Value::GetInt(): Invalid choice selection: NCBI-Seqalign::Score.value.real

Im new to BLAST, and Linux to an extent, and Google has been of little help..

Many thanks

If you are using a 2.9.x version of blast+, you may need to try an older version or wait for a bugfix in a new version. I had a similar problem with 2.9.0, created a ticket with the NCBI helpdesk, and received this response:

"Date: Thu, 10 Oct 2019 07:40:48 ... Thank you for the report. There is a bug in 2.9.0 when using the '-remote' option. It should work in 2.8.1, and it has been fixed for the upcoming 2.10.0 release, which should be out in 2 or 3 weeks."
