Dear member, I am trying to perform lineage analysis with single cell RNA sequencing data. recently I have came across trajectory analysis with monocle. As I am naive in this field, I am bit confused if this trajectory analysis will give me same result of lineage analysis. I would be obliged you all please guide me.

Thank you in advance

Both "trajectory analysis" and "lineage analysis" are broad terms. They could mean different things depending on context. If you saw some results in a paper that you would like replicate with your own data, check the methods for which tool they used. The results are not going to be identical for different tools regardless of how you label the analysis type.

If you would like to learn more about ordering cells along a differentiation continuum or "pseudotime", you really should check this amazing resource that compares in depth all the different methods (including the previously mentioned Monocle): https://dynverse.org/

Thanks @ignor.. i will have a look at it.. i am trying to detect pattern how two cell types originate from a same progenitor cell.

Note: Its seems this works more or less like monocle. Thus I am still in doubt. :(
