On the 13th of November between 10:30-11:30 am (GMT) the following Ensembl services will have reduced functionality.
- ensembl.org
- plants.ensembl.org
- metazoa.ensembl.org
- fungi.ensembl.org
- protists.ensembl.org
- bacteria.ensembl.org
- Ensembl mirrors
- trackhubregistry.org
If you access Ensembl through our mirrors (useast, uswest or asia at the beginning of the URL), there will be no access to tools (for example VEP and BLAST). If you use the main sites (www), there will be no access to BioMart, tools, personal accounts or personal data. All other services operated by Ensembl are expected to continue to operate without degradation but there is a chance we may experience some failures of service. Full functionality will be restored after 11:30 am (GMT).
Why are our services going down?
We are performing a “fire-drill” test where we are testing the back-up of a number of our resources to ensure they are operating as expected. This is being conducted ahead of a much longer downtime period planned for the first half of 2020. The aim is to avoid major disruption in 2020 by causing a smaller disruption now.
Can I find more information about the 2020 downtime?
Once we have more information available we will make you aware via our blog site, our dev and announce mailing lists and our Twitter and Facebook accounts.
