Hi @ll!

With funannotate I have predicted the annotation for a reference genome of a species that does not have a previous annotation and saved this annotation in a GFF3 file. Now, I have found a recent publication with a functional annotation for 5-10 DNA sequences/proteins of the same species, such as:

physalysin_3 MKGLLLLLSVAVAAVSGCQYSDWSLSFDSAGLSRCDGYNQVIRGFFRSYPRGGRDD [...]

physalysin_3 ATGGGCACATTACGTCGATTTGGAGTTTTCGGACTTTTTTGTTTCTTTCATTTAGCAGCTAGTAATCCTTCCAA [...]

Is there a way to manually add a few (approx. 5-10) such (known) protein/DNA sequences to a genome annotation somehow?

Thank you for your help!

Joe

Yes, determine their position in the genome and then just manually edit the pre-existing GFF file, and then Bob's your uncle.
