Hello everyone,
I am trying to find a good estimate of the average and preferably also the upper and lower bounds of the mutation rate in the brown Norway rat, Rattus norvegicus. This is for simulations of rat demographic history. I have found recombination rates from a paper a few years back that compares human rat and mouse recombination rates (if anyone knows of a more uptodate estimate of rat recombination rates that is welcome too!).
Essentially while I can find a lot of work on mutation rate estimates in humans I don't see anything for the rat. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks!
Best,
Rubal
This is probably a very long shot to get an answer. Still, asking... Could you please describe how the "Estimated Background mutation frequencies per million bp" table in the supplementary document was calculated? Is it purely experimental? Is it possible to compute the table by us? @Bioinfosm
