Dear bioinformaticians, I was trying to download FASTQ file (ERR036000) from ENA via aspera connect. I used the following command:

**ascp -QT -l 300m -P33001 -i home/deep/.aspera/connect/etc/asperaweb_id_dsa.openssh era-fasp@fasp.sra.ebi.ac.uk:/vol1/fastq/ERR036/ERR036000/ERR036000_1.fastq.gz .**

BUT, got the following response:

**ascp: Failed to open TCP connection for SSH, exiting.**

Please tell me where is the problem?

Thank You

Failed to open TCP connection for SSH

Since @ATPoint is able to get Aspera to work this ss very likely indicative of local firewall controls preventing Aspera from connecting. Please look at that first.

Hello DEEP!

I told you in the previous thread that ENA is currently down.

Problem while downloading SRR file via **ASPERA CONNECT**

EDIT: 06.05.2020: For me ENA is up and running.

Hi sir... I've read your tutorial in biostars regarding download by aspera connect through sra-explorer. I am downloading using the ascp link generated. But I am getting only 1.7mbps around speed. Although it shows 14mbps speed, I've seen only 1GB is downloaded in 10 minutes. Do you have any suggestion?

You probably have a slow internet connection. Not much you can do about this.

Okay sir... One thing is I've not configured the proxy settings (http and gasp) in aspera after installation. May this be the cause?
