Is there a way to use API to convert taxa-ID to common/scientific name via NCBI?

Is there some sort of API-based method (or similar) to access taxa-ID info from NCBI? I would like to retrieve the organism's common or scientific name for example.

If you have a lot of entries, I recommend downloading map files
