Hi guys, so from the title only, should one answer the old questions (including > 1year) as the one who asked might already have figured out the answer. If not, how to deal with these old questions (should be closed or not?).

Well I think we need to avoid closing posts without a good reason - just being old is not a good one ;-) .
Sometimes contributing to an older post brings it back to relevance as it shows up in the recent tab and on everyone else' activity report. A good answer may stimulate more discussions or just allow us to revisit otherwise buried content.
