What is the cutoff to identify the potential protein-coding gene targets of lncRNAs

Accordingly, potential target genes of the lncRNAs are identified by searching the protein coding genes located upstream and downstream of each lncRNA and nearest genes were considered as cis-regulated genes. But what is the best cutoff to search, 1kb, 10kb or 100kb upstream and downstream?
