bowtie2 version-2.1.0 to 2.2.9 installation in ubuntu

I want to install bowtie2 specific version such as 2.2.7 but not the latest version. I am unable to install it from zip file . As i want to use srst2 software and it require bowtie2 version 2.1.0 to 2.2.9. I am new to ubuntu so can anyone suggest me how to install it and also it should be added to the path.

Then you have to download v2.2.7 from the release page.

how to install it

There are precompiled binaries available: https://sourceforge.net/projects/bowtie-bio/files/bowtie2/2.2.7/

also it should be added to the path
