Hi there,

I'm organising a course in bioinformatics and would like to get some insight from prospective students on what they'd like the content of such a course to be. If you're considering doing an online bioinformatics course than I'd really appreciate if you answer all or some of the questions below so I can create the best course there can be.

  • What do you want to learn about bioinformatics? More theory or practical hands on lab experience?
  • What problems do you face in bioinformatics? What are your biggest challenges?
  • How will learning about bioinformatics help you?
  • Can you give me some examples and context of when you’ve had problems? When does it occur? How does it affect you? What happens if you don’t solve the problem?
  • What resources have you used so far? What was good about them? What was terrible?
  • What would be most useful to learn?

How can a Bioinformatics scientist help us in day to day life? (Maybe we can elaborate bioinfo in healthcare)

Can you add some information of what kind of course you are thinking of organizing? Will be it be in-person or online? How long will the course last? Would you be providing compute resources or will people need to provide their own? Cost?
