I am looking for an antibody database where each antibody is linked with its potential/actual target genes/proteins, i.e. a database similar to DrugBank.ca but only for antibodies. It would be really great if the data is in a parse-able format, up-to-date and comprehensive enough to cover most of the common antibodies -- probably asking too much here

Any suggestions on this?

Hi Arman,

Some of them are (Free+ Paid):

  • Antibody Related Databases and Software:

Antibody related amino acid sequencing tools, nucleotide sequencing tools, structural modeling tools, and hybridoma/cell culture databases can be found below. Speciality research databases that include monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies are also included.

  • Human Antibody Initiative

The mission of the Human Antibody Initiative (HAI) aims to promote and facilitate the use of antibodies for proteomics research. The initiative consists of two separate activities; (1) the generation of a catalogue of validated antibodies from many different sources and (2) a protein atlas for the expression and localization of human proteins in normal and disease tissue. The two separate activities have as their primary deliverables to generate databases with free public accessibility.

    • The Antibody Resource database is aimed to produce a comprehensive catalogue of validated antibodies towards human proteins. This initiative depends on input from a large number of academic groups and commercial companies.
    • The Protein Atlas initiative is aimed to provide comprehensive and annotated database of high-resolution images showing tissue profiles in normal and cancer tissues. Both databases will be open to the public without restriction (no passwords).

I hope this helps a bit.

thanks a lot Gaurav, yes it really helps -- although it is really sad to see that there is neither a standard nor exchange of data for most of these databases/providers. Will try to dig more the ones you have listed. Thanks again!

I agree on you point about the lack of standard and open public databases ... its been a problem with many other databases in our field.

thanks! seems like a little bit domain-specific and limited, but everything counts ;)

The only source I have come across for clinical antibodies and their targets is

We have a database for antibodies here: https://www.bioz.com

Bioz is a search engine for life science experiments aimed to save scientists time and money when conducting their research and eliminate money spent on irreproducible results.

Full disclosure - I do some work for Bioz.

The Human Protein Atlas

http://www.proteinatlas.org/

more or less exactly fits the answer for antibodies histochemically binding to their actual target proteins (with the caveats explained in their publications)

They are linked with https://www.antibodypedia.com/ (that Bioz seems to be a partial re-invention of)
