Develop software as the foundation for new scientific achievements
When aiming for the stars and world class innovation, like we do, we need to utilize the enormous potential within software. That is why we need you to help us make scientific software a cornerstone in the process of new discoveries and product development.
You will work with both optimisation of existing tools and contribute to the further development of our ground-breaking new informatics platform named Lifelike. Lifelike is a knowledge management and data analytics platform that stores knowledge in a human and machine-readable format that allows researchers and computers to work together in understanding and solving complex problems. We have utilized the newest knowledge within Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing and knowledge graphs. More specifically you will:
- Develop web user interface components using Bootstrap, web services and REST APIs
- Develop text mining applications
- Develop backend code in Python, Flask
- Carry out automated testing for our applications
- Working in an Agile software development environment
Our current technologies and tools
- Persistence and caching: PostgreSQL, Redis, Neo4J, Elasticsearch, Azure SQL Database
- Web service: Python 3, Flask, SQLAlchemy, Graphene (GraphQL)
- Web interface: Angular, Angular Material, TypeScript, JavaScript, Bootstrap, Apollo (GraphQL)
- Deployment & CI: NGINX, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, GitHub Actions
- Clouds: Google and Azure
You will join a team of Computer Scientists, Biology Professionals and Data Science Specialists based in Copenhagen and the US. You will be based at DTU in Lyngby, Copenhagen. Our culture is characterised by trust, knowledge sharing, joined decisions and helpfulness. Travelling is not part of the job but as we work closely together with colleagues in the US, you must be ready to do some calls outside normal office hours.
Degree in software development and motivation for a steep learning curve
We are looking for a profile with motivation for learning and development not only within own area of expertise but also within the bio domain. As your solutions are enablers for a huge R&D community of Scientists you will need to understand the basics of their world and objectives. This calls for your curiosity and your additional drive for investigating new topics proactively. Additionally, you must bring overview and interest in the total solutions in order to understand how you can build the best possible components. As you will be trusted with great responsibility you must be able to plan your work to deliver within agreed deadlines. Additionally, your CV comprises:
- A university degree centred on software development
- Familiarity with databases (SQL) and scripting
- Good Python programming skills
- Experience with graphical UI libraries, Angular and Bootstrap would be a plus
- GitHub knowledge
- Clean code knowledge
- Agile knowledge
- DevOps experience would be a plus
- Software testing knowledge
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
