Maybe it's more appropriate. Just sayin'.

I would like to think that Biostars is much more than just NGS, even if a vast majority of the new questions are NGS-related. This trend is most likely to change as new platforms evolve and there is already a very nice forum for NGS-related questions: SEQanswers. So no need to duplicate things here (and dilute them).
Quoting from the Biostar paper, here are some of the topics discussed in Biostar and these don't necessarily fall into the NGS category:
- Algorithm and database design and implementation
- Help choosing the appropriate software for a task
- Locating and utilizing biological databases
- Interpreting results, including choosing appropriate statistics
- Pointers to relevant publications and references
- Career advice

I agree, also I think the term "next-gen" is somewhat of a misnomer - just how long will it be called that way - or perhaps next-gen is a moving target, every tech is next gen ;-)
It will be diluted anyway, SEQanswers I mean. But I have been away for almost two years and next-gen is the main thing you see on the main page. Sad, but true.
