HI

I work with non-model organisms, after DGE analysis, I find a lot of genes found significant the gene names ends with *like. I'm unable to find detailed information about these genes. For annotation I used Danio rerio Rlibrary.

Ex: zinc fingers and homeoboxes protein 1-like not much information available on web, does this gene has similar function like zinc fingers and homeoboxes protein 1

suggestions encouraged.

The interpretation may be based on simple sequence similarity searches/alignment. That is likely not enough evidence to conclude that the function is going to be similar to the gene being compared to.

I agree, the better way is to look into conserved domains between two proteins/genes. Is it right ?
