Hi,

Are there databases containing operon and gene annotations for bacterial genomes?

Apparently in NCBI or EMBL there are no operon annotations for these bacterial genomes that I downloaded:

  • Escherichia coli str. K-12 substr. MG1655
  • Prochlorococcus marinus MED4
  • Rhodobacter sphaeroides 2.4.1
annotation genome database • 3.5k views

How about OperonDB? These are afaik automatic predictions, so I would treat them with care. They at least contain your E. coli and Rhodobacter strains , but only different P. marinus strains. If the differences strain matter at all, who knows...

As was shown several times, genes that are usually transcribed together are sometimes transcribed separately. see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19881496 for an example.
