You’re invited to join us for a free, open, virtual training course, 30th November – 2nd December. The course will be held using the Blackboard training platform.
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who would to learn more about using Ensembl via the browser through webinar videos and exercises. An undergraduate degree in a life science subject would be an advantage.
What will I achieve?
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Navigate Ensembl using the web browser platform
- Access main data types in Ensembl: genomes, genes, genetic variation, regulatory features and comparative genomics
- Annotate your own variant data with the VEP
- Mine Ensembl data using BioMart
How does the course work?
The course will be held over three days from 30th November to 2nd December, 9.00-12.15 GMT. We plan to hold another iteration of this course in future, at a time more appropriate for those in the Americas. On each day there will be two lectures and two interactive exercise sessions, with a short break in between.
The lectures will be held using the Collaborate platform in Blackboard. You will be able to ask questions of the instructors during the lectures, and discuss with both the instructors and the rest of the participants during the exercises.
If you miss a session, videos will be available on the course platform, along with exercises to complete in your own time. The instructors will check the discussion boards periodically to help with your queries.
