We are hiring three enthusiastic, thorough and collaborative postdocs to join the Forest Pathology Group at Universidad de Valladolid (Campus of Palencia, Spain). The lab has two ongoing projects, the positions will be shared as follows:
(i) 1 post-doctoral position for 1 year is available in the project ‘RNAi technologies for the control of Pine Pitch Canker by Fusarium circinatum’ (funded by Spanish Ministry) to work on RNAi designing for silencing targeted fungal genes and developing effective and long-term nanocarriers as delivery system.
We seek a first postdoc (profile 1):
Requirements:
- Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or a related field.
- Strong demonstrated competence in molecular biology.
- Proficiency in scientific writing and communication.
Desired skills:
- Experience with RNAi and Nanotechnology
(ii) 2 post-doctoral positions for 2 years each are available in the project ‘Study of RNA viruses in forest ecosystems of Castilla and León and their application in the prediction of future pandemics’ (funded by Junta de Castilla y León).
We seek a second postdoc (profile 2):
Requirements:
- Ph.D. degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, (viral) genomics, biostatistics or a related field.
- Strong demonstrated competence in scripting/programming languages such as Python and Perl.
- Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization in R.
- Significant experience working in a Unix/Linux computing environment with large datasets
- Proficiency in scientific writing and communication
Desired skills:
- Significant experience in obtaining, curating and handling large-scale data analysis, using bioinformatics tools.
- Computacional approach for virus research (metaviromics).
- Pipeline development and improvement in accordance with advances in the literature
- Preferred familiarity with computing clusters and associated job management software (e.g., SLURM).
We seek a third postdoc (profile 3):
Requirements:
- Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or a related field.
- Strong demonstrated competence in molecular biology (qPCR, fungi culture, nucleic acid extraction).
- Experience in working with RNA molecules.
- Proficiency in scientific writing and communication
Desired skills:
- Bioinformatics skills.
- Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization in R.
- Experience in operating in a UNIX/Linux environment.
Forest Pathology lab consist of a multidisciplinar group of forest engineers, biologists and environmental scientists. The postdocs researchers will have the opportunity to develop their professional career in a high productive period working in close collaboration with international experts.
Contracts will start in February 2020.
