Hi, I am using this tool for some visualization work of my genome data, and want to get a high-solution plot result, say, 300dpi. But I can only generate the file of jpg/bmp/gif format which is low-solution. Then I found this article, it said the DNAplotter can output Postscripts, without saying how. Anyone has experience with this tool? Can you show me the way to do it? thanks!

I can't find any direct save-as-Postscript method in the current version (just downloaded it and ran it), but you can just do File->Print and then print to file as Postscript or pdf. Or does that not work for you?

I used it under linux. The "print" function can't work. Do you know what I should do to print PS?

Huh? What do you mean "the print function can't work" - what happens when you try it? I'm on Linux too (Ubuntu 10.04), and it worked for me... Just do File->Print from the menu and check the "Print to File" box. Although I was using the Java Web Start version rather than the standalone download, so possibly there's a difference between those.

I got it! I can't use the print function because there is no print service installed. After I switched to windows, and install a virtual printer with postscript output function, finally the ps file can be generated~ thanks

Ah, I see. Glad you got it working! Getting a print service installed on Linux might not be that hard either. I have http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUPS, it works great and has a print-to-file option without me needing to install any virtual printer as far as I remember.

Mine is fedora 16, and used "yum install cups" to install/update it. Now if I open and print by other app, say, gedit, it works normal. But still "can't find print service" on this dnaplotter java app. Pretty weird.

Huh, that is weird! I have no idea why it'd do that.
