Hi, I am trying to construct a directed network with the help of Cytoscape-3.8.2. My network contains different types of nodes that I am trying to color differently. However, being a directed network, I am able to color through discrete mapping either on the basis of start node type or target node type.

Please tell me how can I color them differently, just on the basis of node types (genes, RNA's) for a directed network and not whether they are start node or target node?

Greetings!

The easiest way to do that is to add a column (say, call it Type) that states what the node type is. Then you can easily set up a discrete map to color according to type. You would probably want to do that in your input file before importing it into Cytoscape.
