Hi my friends,

This is just a starting point for me, I would like analysis a sheet of gene expression data (microarray data), with following properties:

  1. Seven time-course + 3 replication for every time-course
  2. hEC lines experiment
  3. Affy_ID

Questions:

  1. is the information enough ?
  2. could any one help me to start working with microarray analysis
  3. what is the best start point when you do not have enough information about experiment ?
  4. should I use Gene ontology/annotation for getting more information about expression?
  5. How many steps should be done to analysis a expression data and extract networks (co-expression net or other networks)

Thanks

Your questions are too generic/ill defined and cannot be answered right away.

Start easy, just one step at a time and don't look too far ahead to co-expression networks and such.

For your datasets I would start with the MultiExperiment Viewer. Just by following the documentation you will be able to get well ahead in the analysis. It is an excellent software package with many amazing features tied into one neat interface.

Along the way you may run into difficulties, then come back and ask a specific question. And of course do try to find out more about the experiment - without that context there is little value to anything that you might find.
