Hello

Is it correct to say that most paralogous genes occur on the same chromosome (as they arise from gene duplications) or is it just as common to get paralogous genes on different chromosomes.

Not necessarily: paralogs can also emerge through whole-genome duplication events, and even if a local duplication happens, chromosomes are re-arranged during evolution (e.g. chordate evolution) and synteny is lost.
