The Gladstone Institutes, an independent and nonprofit biomedical research organization, is recruiting an innovative database and web developer to work on semantic data models and online collaboration tools for the WikiPathways project. The candidate should have demonstrated experience with PHP and MediaWiki, in addition to JavaScript (JSON, D3), SVG, CSS and HTML5. Expertise with database technologies is also critical, including MySQL. The successful candidate will also have ample experience managing semantic data via RDF, SPARQL, triplestores (Virtuoso), and graph databases (Neo4j). Familiarity with biological sciences is a major plus, as these technologies will support a collaborative platform for capturing and sharing biological pathway representations for data visualization and analysis (see wikipathways.org). We need a good team player that can work with a mix of local and distributed development teams on open source projects. As part of these teams, the candidate’s work will fit directly into biomedical research applications spanning the globe. Candidates with relevant expertise who wish to join Gladstone’s mission of preventing, treating and curing some of the world’s most relentless diseases should apply.
Requirements:
BS/MS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field preferred. At least 2 years of experience with PHP, MediaWiki, JavaScript, MySQL, and semantic data management is required. Experience with D3, SVG, HTML5, and graph modeling is preferred.
