Salary: This appointment will be made at a point on the Lecturer Salary Scale in line with current Government pay policy

Post Summary

The School of Genetics and Microbiology invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Genetics on a 5-year contract. The ideal candidate will have a PhD and an accomplished track record of research in the field of Genetics. Applications are particularly welcome from scholars with research expertise in population genomics and other fields in molecular evolution and computational genetics. The post-holder will be expected to obtain competitive grant funding for research, and to contribute to undergraduate courses in science. S/he will contribute to postgraduate training in genetics through the supervision of research students.

Standard duties of the Post

The appointee will be expected to:

  • be actively engaged in research and be successful in attracting research funding;
  • contribute to the lecturing/teaching programme of the School at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
  • undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision;
  • participate fully in the development activities of the School/Discipline;
  • make a normal contribution to departmental administration.
