Where could I find some sample files for (human) NGS scans? I understand the machines produce a number of different formats:

  • Raw
  • FASTA/FASTQ
  • SAM
  • VCF
  • Other??

Are there any ftp or downloads sites where I could find some example raw scan data, as well as data that has been processed by the NGS machine?

For everything except basecall data (which I assume is what you mean by "raw data"), check the 1000 Genomes Project. I haven't seen much basecall data in the wild.

You can get most of them here: http://www.1000genomes.org/data

Another site is http://www.sanger.ac.uk/resources/mouse/genomes/

I am not sure what you wan to do though.

Thanks. I'm building a prototype analysis system. and will have access to a NGS machine soon, but I just wanted to get started on the coding.
