What is the significance of binding and active site of protein in drug metabolism? I mean to ask a) where actaully drug binds - is it active site or binding site? b) What is the significance of each in drug devlopment in terms of PK/PD?

Basically I wanted to know about the significance of active site and binding site of protein when we take any drug, how in this case both of these sites are used? What is their importance?
I suggest you re-visit the definitions of Active Site and Binding Site, and ask yourself: - What is a binding site? - What is an active site? - How is a binding site different from an active site? And vice versa.
These are pretty simple things that you should be able to read in any 1st year med. chem or protein structure textbook. It should even be quite easy to find in Wikipedia.
