Bioinformatics Degree Project Idea

I am doing a graduate degree in bioinformatics, and I am looking for some idea of developing a software of bioinformatics as my final year project. I am planning to change my field of study in my masters and study graphic design and web design (or computer science, but the chances for that are lesser than graphic design). So I want to use some tools which will help me in that field.

So I wish to use tools and languages like html 5, jQuery, android and java etc. (or any other languages you would suggest me).

I want to do some project which in the most direct way affects human beings. Or some functionality which will be handy to have in one's android device i.e. mobile phone.

Please suggest me some ideas as soon as possible.

Maybe you could try building a Phylogenetic tree mobile app (similar in a way to google map). It would be a nice illustrative tool, see for example http://www.onezoom.org/.

You could map NCBI sample location onto a map of the world using GeoJSON so that researcher can search for sequences by browser a map.
