I would try to assembly some genomes from metagenomic samples. Anyone have any suggestions?

If your question is 'can it be done', then the answer is a resounding yes! see the methods of Albersen et al 2013, Sharon et al 2013, Wrighton et al 2012, Tyson et al 2004 and many others.
