SciENcv is a new feature in My NCBI that helps users create an online professional profile that can be made public to share with others. In SciENcv users can document their education, employment, research activities, publications, honors, research grants, and other professional contributions. In addition, the SciENcv profile may include an ORCID® iD, when registered with ORCID.
This would be amazing if they exposed an API so you can re-use the "standard" parts in any way you wish. As it is, the options for keeping a public CV are too fragmented without the ability to re-use the parts that you're constantly updating.
I have just tried it, but I prefer the curriculum that I have written by myself. This new NCBI feature doesn't allow you to add any skills you may have, or which programming languages you may know. There is also no space for posters and presentations, and for courses given. Moreover, if you are applying to different positions, you may want to write a slightly different "Statement of Research Interests" for each.
In any case, I appreciate the effort of reducing the burden of applying to job positions in many institutions. These days I am looking for a new job, and I can testify that some institutions ask you to fill a lot of details, that you have to fill again for each individual application. I understand that the institutions wants to know many information about me, but I am wasting a lot of time just copying and pasting my curriculum every time!
