How 23Andme Provides Assays In Only $99

Just wondering that how 23andme provides SNPassays in only $99. Can some one help me in knowing that what exactly they do and how they do ?

Their business model after the price drop (they were much more expensive) is, I think, using peoples data for patenting novel disease genes (http://blog.23andme.com/news/announcements/announcing-23andmes-first-patent). I don't know how the recent patent rulings will affect this. Another much smaller source of income are scientific grants.

Interesting ! So it would be tougher for them to survive on price of $99 Per genome only !!
