I'm starting a new group at Oxford, working on genomic variation in pathogens, and am looking both for good PhD students, and will be hiring a scientific programmer (ad to follow soon).
There is room both for people who want to develop new algorithms for analysis of variation from sequencing data, and for those with a more biological focus. The majority of work in the group will be on Plasmodium falciparum, where we have huge amounts of data from field samples across the world, and hospital bacterial infections.

and if you're interested, please contact me directly (zam AT well.ox.ac.uk). Oxford has some generous (for the UK) PhD funding, but it is competitive, so we would have to apply together for it, in January.
