Can I model when 2 population separeted in the past using BEAST?

Dear All!

Can I model the separation time of 2 population, using BEAST, without the tipdates function? If yes, how? I tried the program with my own test database, it cluster the samples perfectly, but without the tipdates it don't really make the tree valid as ancestry tree. I would like to use it for Y-chromosome population trees.
