Illumina WGS is the best option for a high-resolution genome but it is a short-read-based sequencing technology. For getting accurate read mapping, Oxford nanopore or Pacbio along with Illumina deep sequencing will result in a high-resolution complete genome. Oxford and Pacbio gives long read length.

 Sanger sequencing (1977 – present)

   Next-generation sequencing (2nd generation) (2005 – present)
           454
           Ion Torrent
           Illumina
  3rd generation sequencing (2012 – present)
           PacBio or SMRT sequencing
          Oxford Nanopore
