A postdoctoral research position is available in the Department of Biology to study post-transcriptional gene regulation in response to environmental cues. A Ph.D. in plant molecular biology, RNA biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or a related field is required. Applicants must have experience in analyzing large RNA-seq datasets including direct RNA-seq reads using multiple bioinformatics pipelines to infer post-transcriptional events and base modifications in RNA (epitranscriptomics) and protein-RNA interactions. The successful candidate will apply existing bioinformatics tools to analyze Illumina and Nanopore sequencing datasets and in collaboration with Dr. Asa Ben-Hur’s group in the Department of Computer Science will participate in developing new computational tools to analyze large sequencing datasets. The incumbent will have an opportunity to participate in other ongoing projects in the laboratory and is expected to interact with other post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students in our laboratory, and our collaborators’ groups at CSU and the University of Texas at Austin.
