Hi there,

I apologize for what may be obvious or stated elsewhere, but what does 'Dr15plus' mean (and how does it differ from 'Original') in the tabs for the software command line options for STAR and HT-Seq on GDCs RNA-seq pipeline page?

https://docs.gdc.cancer.gov/Data/Bioinformatics_Pipelines/Expression_mRNA_Pipeline/#rna-seq-alignment-workflow

Any insight here would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Ah, that's probably it (though it would have been nice if GDC could have made this more explicit). Thanks!

It's data release Just to add more details

  • before DR15: STAR 2-pass pipeline that only generates one genomic aligned BAM. No STAR Count. This is done for TCGA and TARGET.
  • DR15 and after: STAR 2-pass pipeline that generates 3 BAMs at a time (genome, transcriptome, and chimeric), and STAR Count. This is done for TARGET and all other projects
  • TCGA will also be updated soon with the new pipeline.
