Hi all
I have a very naive question. I am no longer sure that I understand what alternative splicing means. For example, AT1G48420 gene of A. thaliana shows three splicing variants, but all three variants encodes the same amino acid sequences. Are they Alternative Splicing variants?
Can anyone please explain?
Thank you
An alternative splicing event not necessary modifies the encoded amino acid sequence. This happens because there could be alternative splicing in the 5' or 3' untranslated regions (UTR) of a transcript.
Thank you alex.zaccaron for the clarification.
