Hello! Can someone please dummy-explain to me what exactly are total sequences? I am practicing some bioinformatic problems and in my FASTQC report I get this: Total Sequences 85988702, Sequence length 76. Does that mean that I have one target region of interest with length 76 and then total sequences divided by sequence length will give me number of reads? It would be nice if someone can put these basic statistics results in the context of NGS mechanism. Thank you in advance for your help!

It is what you see in the report. You have a total of 85988702 reads. Each read is 76 bp long. There is no information about where the reads are from, other than the fact that they are from one sample as long as the data you are looking at is demultiplexed.
