Guideline on phenotype transformation before GWAS?

Hey guys. We are doing GWAS for almost 100 different phenotypes. These are distributed differently after looking at histograms and density. Most are normally or log-normally distributed and in the second case we would transform them with a log transformation and then analyze them.

In some cases, however, it is difficult to judge visually whether a transformation is appropriate, and if so, which one. We wonder if there is not a guideline in a good journal that addresses exactly this problem and could help us.

There is a lot on this in forums, but we would like to read a scientific guide on this topic. Maybe someone here knows something like that and can link the paper!

With best regards Jan
