gene function

I have a gene list (approx. 4000 genes) and I would like annotate them regarding their functions (ie cell cycle, kinase and etc). How can I do this ?

This will depend heavily on what organism you are working with, and what resources are available for that organism. What organism? What have you tried? If your organism is available at Ensembl, you might give biomart a try. It has options for pasting in a list of IDs and getting back annotation.
