Modern processing of VCF files in Python

Hi All,

I currently use PyVCF to process VCF files in Python. But PyVCF is a old project that doesn't get updated frequently. Question: Is there a more modern way to processing VCF files in Python? What are people using these days?

There is hail, which is a more general framework for genomic data analysis, that can also handle VCF files.
