Hello, I am a beginner in bioinformatics and I want to use CPC to evaluate the protein coding potential of a transcript. To do this, I need to install the local blast package essentially 'formatdb'. I have searched in Google but I did not find how I can download it (step by step).

I appreciate any help.

Thanks for your help.

formatdb was part of old versions of blast (now called legacy blast). You can find old versions of blast here. They are no longer supported (last version linked is from 2011). No installation should be needed. Simply download relevant binary. Uncompress and make sure the bin directory is in your $PATH.

Try and find a different program if you can. Looks like there is a CPC2: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28521017/
